“Daisy, give yourself away,
Look up at the rain
The beautiful display,
Of power and surrender
Giving us today,
When she gives herself away……
……Let it go,
Daisy let it go
Open up your fists
This fallen world,
Doesn’t hold your interest,
Doesn’t hold your soul,
Daisy let it go”
– Switchfoot

(Disclaimer: I’m pretty sure this is a daisy 🙂 )
But if it is not, at least it is growing in my garden.
That makes me happy enough.
And these lyrics from Switchfoot are some of my favorite.
Now I have go outside and make sure the rest of my garden is still alive,
seeing as I forgot to water it yesterday.
Plants hate me.

I thought about splitting this up into multiple posts, but quite frankly I didn’t trust myself.  We’ve been so busy, if I don’t do it all at once, it may never get done!

Last Wednesday I had a few girls over for dinner.  Mike was going out to dinner with my dad, and I figured eating alone was no fun, so we made a night of it.

For dinner, I made Spicy Chicken Peanut Noodles.  Oh my goodness.  It has become one of our new favorite meals.  So much so that we had dinner guests that same weekend and I made it AGAIN.  4 days after making it the first time.  That’s how much we liked it.  The flavors all blend so well together!!
We girls had a grand ol’ time.  And afterwards we enjoyed fine teas and Strawberry Cream Scones.  Along with Peeps and Starburst Jelly Beans.  Eclectic, I know.

Also going on this week: the last week of March.  Which means my grocery budget is shot.  Now, lest you misunderstand – this does not mean my grocery budget was shot to begin with.  Ah non, au contraire.  This simply means I got carried away at the beginning of the month and perused Trader Joe’s and Fresh Market as if I had a million bucks.  What can I say – I have a weakness for good coffee, fancy spritzers and fine cheese.  Fortunately, sometimes the simple (read: cheap) things are the best things.  Such as: Bacon Egg and Cheese Bagel Sandwiches.

So easy.  So yummy.  So cheap.  Love it.

And today, Traci and I went with Ruth and Mrs. K to gather gardening supplies in Lancaster.  (I think it was technically Quarryville, but it’s al the same to me.)  We got so much for such great prices!!  The plan is this: we are doing a Sisters Vegetable Garden this summer.  Michelle and I are growing one garden, and Meg and Traci are growing another.  They will mostly consist of the same veggies, but we’ll each tend to our own and then share the bounty.  Right now we are planning to grow:

– Romaine Lettuce
– Buttercrunch Lettuce
– Red Leaf Lettuce
– Sugar Snap Peas
– Green Beans
– Tomatoes (regular and cherry)
– Zucchini
– Cucumbers
– Red and Green bell peppers
– Potatoes
– Herbs

We may throw some strawberries into the mix.  Maybe.  Even though they’re not a vegetable.  Who cares.

This greenhouse was amazing.  Beautiful, plentiful and cheap.  And it’s a good thing Ruth and Mrs. K were with us.  They told us what to buy, how much of it to buy, and when to plant it.  We truly would have been lost without them.  But now that we (sort of) know what we’re doing, I am getting really excited about having fresh produce on hand all summer.  And that’s not to mention all the money we are going to save simply by growing it ourselves!

The little girlies had a lot of fun picking out flowers too.

And when we were all done at the greenhouse, we headed over to B&E Grocery. (I think that’s what it was called??)  And that is where Traci and I found THESE:

3 lbs. of animal crackers.  For $2.99.  We were happy campers.

And tonight, we are hanging out with Ba and Rosie while Mom and Dad are at PSU visiting Andrew.

We went to Red Robin for dinner and are now at home watching The Princess and the Frog.  It’s pretty cute.  Disney finally realized their old stuff was the best.  Took ‘em long enough.

So that’s been our week in a nutshell.  Busy but fun.  Next up?  Who knows!  Have a great weekend!
