To Dry or Not to Dry?

That is the question.

Back story: this week we were overrun by ants.
So, not only do I have stink bugs chasing me in my dreams, now I can add ants as well.
And let me tell you, I have not been brainwashed by A Bug’s Life.  I, for one, can separate fiction (a cute movie) from fact (a creeper crawler parade.)  I’m guessing they didn’t bank on that.  It seems they also thought they could get away with hosting their Ant Extravaganza simply because today is Earth Day.
They were gravely mistaken.
I have cleaned my kitchen top to bottom twice in 4 days.  I have drowned the hundreds of ants who thought my Simple Syrup was a swimming pool.  (I knew I shouldn’t have bought that stuff!)  I have stuffed any and all uncontaminated pantry items in plastic bags for 24 hours.  I have sprayed the cracks and crevices that they seem to be emerging from.  I have stomped the living daylights out of them.
And unfortunately I did not do so well with my words as I expressed (read: vented) my dismay.  To the ants.  That’s right.  I now talk to ants.  Because everyone knows THAT works 😉
I love Earth Day.  I support it.  I think it’s a great idea.  But the “earth” must stay in the earth.  It may not come marching through my house like Grant through Richmond.

Anyways, that’s the background.  The key phrase that explains how I’m getting to what I’m about to say is:
I have cleaned my kitchen top to bottom twice in 4 days.
And that is how I discovered what the left corner of my counter space looks like without a drying rack:

I have to be honest.  I love it.  I like the extra space that it gives me, and that it looks less cluttered.  I like that I have room for pretty things, like flowers from Husband.  I like that it will force me to dry my pots and pans after washing rather them letting them sit out for days.
However, there is one con: I can’t throw my pots and pans in the drying rack and let them sit out for days. 😉

Thoughts?  Should I take the extra space and force myself to dry?  Or am I being highly impractical?
